Don’t be a closet Christian

Many people will tell other Christians that they are a believer. However, most will be living a double life around Non-Christians to be popular. When I was younger I didn’t tell people I was Christian because I didn’t want to be excluded from parties or come across as an extremist. As a got older and matured I realized that Christ was never embarrassed to die for me so why should I be ashamed of the Gospel?

I could rant and say, “All of you are going to hell, you’re a bad Christian, you are not worthy, etc.!” But I’m not. Instead, I chose empathy and I’ll answer, “Why are there so many closet Christians?”

First, being a Biblical Christian isn’t popular. Christianity is the unapologetic Gospel which means it does not care how you feel. You can’t cherry-pick God’s word. In Revelation 3:15-16, it says, “I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”

That’s what many progressive Christians are trying to do. Their agenda is to keep Christians from being on fire and trying to fit in with the world. Since we are bought by Christ we don’t fit in. It is what it is. You become that Christian who believes in BLM, LGBT, and Spirituality more than Biblical truth because your feelings get hurt too easily.

One must accept the Gospel every day, not just when it brings them riches. It’s sickening these days to see God being treated like a Genie. God is with you always but since you neglect to pray, repent, listen to the world’s “news”, and gossip, that’s why you have troubles hearing Him.

This is why we as Christians need to, “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” (Colossians 4:2 ESV) The suffering we face is just temporary. Our reward for wearing armor is the entrance into heaven.

Secondly, many were never raised on biblical truth. I’ve met Christians who say they are Christian but it’s hard to tell. The party, they drink, they smoke, they take the Lord’s name in vain, and overall, from my observations, it seems they’ve never been raised on the Bible. Therefore, false teachers have gotten in their heads and told them that astrology is the truth when it’s not. That clubbing and bar hopping is just living life when it’s just sin. And that sleeping around is okay because that’s the new version of Christianity.

What’s being created now are many soft Christian men and hyper-masculine women. The men do not know how to control themselves sexually, don’t speak up, have no eye contact, have no base in their voice, and overall are just cowards. The women act like their dudes because they don’t know the Holy Father.

Therefore, they unknowingly put on masculine traits because they never learned how to be women. They carry themselves without any class and try to have sex with many dudes to fill the void just like the men do. It’s gross, but this is the cause of not knowing the biblical truth. For anyone who attends a progressive church, you must leave and pray for them because Progressive Christianity is not the Gospel, it’s a lie.

And finally, it’s easy to live a lie than to marinate on the truth. Imma tell y’all the truth. When mom died I thought about running from God again. However, I sought out Biblical counseling to confront my way of laziness and complacency. Yes I am still grieving but God needs me right now more than ever before. But I was so weak I couldn’t answer His call.

In our session I was told we all disappoint God every day, repent, and do not apologize for preaching and rejoicing in the word of God. Do not get involved with gossip or spread rumors. Remain humble and stay in His word.

Therefore, I decided I need to get on my knees and thank God. I couldn’t get mad anymore about God not hearing me while I’m not praying, worshipping, or repenting of my sin. The way of the disciple is a day-to-day walk to be closer to God. It’s not about what you want, it’s about what God wants. We worship false idols like money, tv, movies, and other things that bring us away from God, then we wonder why our lives aren’t spiritually filled. We are to blame not God! Remember this!

When I realized my life wasn’t spiritually filled I gave into Him. The more we wrestle with God, we never win. One Thursday night a brother texted me asking to talk on the phone. I didn’t hesitate to question God’s will. I just surrendered. After our two-hour talk, I went downstairs to pray. Then I went to bed. Yes, I was mad tired but I still needed to talk to the Father before I went to bed. I am a man of God which means I’m bought by Christ.

Ephesians 4:17-18 says, “So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.” We are set apart as believers in Him. Therefore, we are set apart from darkness and can see the light.

To conclude, being a Christian is not like wearing a superhero cape. If you want to leave the faith that’s between you and God, not me. Christianity is where I will remain because I believe Jesus is the way, the truth, and Life to true salvation. Christianity is the only religion that had a savior die on the cross for our sins. Other religions and false teachers have cute sayings stolen from the Gospel to get everyone to “co-exist” but it’s not the gospel, it’s a false doctrine.

I am a firm believer that if you do not believe in God, now is the time to get to know Him. Don’t continue to mock him. Give up your unnatural ways of fornication, being a drunk, a druggie, or whatever is separating you from the one true King. If not, you will face His wrath on judgment day. Repent, surrender, and give yourself to Him.
